Photo Tips, Anyone?

So many bloggers take such lovely photos. Obviously mine aren't that great...The one illustrating this post is one of my better ones. Does anyone care to offer any tips? I know light is important...Beyond that, I'm clueless!

Light is VERY important. Natural light is best. Cloudy days especially. You'll have the beauty of natural light without the glare (white, washed out spots) of direct light that the sun or a light bulb will cast. I even try not to use my flash.

For close-ups, become familiar with your Macro setting. That little setting will allow you to get very close to an object, almost touching it with your lens, without losing image quality like you do when you try to zoom in real close. If you want to get right on a flower petal, or photograph text, Macro is the way to go!

Unless you want to read the owner's manual you'll just learn as you go along. lol I hate manuals, so while I'm not a professional (far from it) anything I know I've learned by trial and error. Lots of error. :-D

BTW, I think the apple picture is beautiful!
